Revelers cross line across border
BY KERMIT PATTISON, Pioneer Press For the past two years, Halloween in Madison has turned scary.
Many Minnesota students are preparing for a road trip to Madison's annual Halloween weekend bash, notorious for its costumed crowds of 65,000 people, drunken rowdiness and, for two years running, rioting.
This year, Madison police and city officials are warning revelers to keep the peace and are vowing to crack down on drunkenness, vandalism and looting that resulted in more than 300 citations and 18 arrests last year.
